Destination weddings are the best fit for couples who are ready to host and celebrate with their guests in a unique location.

Whether you’ve decided on a Caribbean celebration in Mexico, an island party in Bali, or a romantic elopement in Italy, we’ve got you covered with every detail you need to know when planning a destination wedding.

1. Choose a Location

It’s a great start to start planning your big day. Remember that in addition to the beauty of the place, it must meet other important standards, such as the capacity of your guests, comfort, and ease of arrival.

2. Hire a Professional

Find a planner that specializes in destination weddings. “Hire a planner! I know you probably expected that, but it’s true. If you’re planning a destination wedding, it is very important that you can rely on a professional who will think of all the details so you and your guests can arrive stress-free.

3. Confirm your vendors

Once the date is confirmed, although your wedding may still be a long time away, do not wait and confirm the professionals you would like to have at your wedding. This way you will ensure the availability of your preferred suppliers without having to rush to the last minute.

Extra Tip: Most of us photographers/videographers plan our agenda 8/12 months in advance.

4. Secure Passports and Other Documents

A valid passport is a given for international travel, and at the very least you’ll need a current driver’s license for domestic destinations. Double-check all expiration dates as soon as you choose your wedding date and location, then check again! 🙂

5. Create your own Wedding Web Page

Totally recommended! There are many free and easy-to-use templates to help you create your own beautiful wedding web page. What is it for? To collect all the information about your big day in a single site that you will work with your planner; dress code, location, tips for guests, invitations, and much more!

6. Plan Additional Events

Extend your celebration by planning additional events outside of the big day. Guests will always enjoy some extra activities. While you don’t have to go-all out with a full weekend of events, a welcome party to greet everyone is a nice choice.
